How to Get iPhone App Refund in iTunes

August 26, 2010 by Amit Bhawani

I was going through the iTunes App and while trying to download a nice free game, i by mistake tapped on the paid version and went ahead with the purchase. I need to know that if i can contact Apple Support in anyway to get the money i paid for that App?

Apple does help out their users when it comes to the refund process of a purchased Applications through iTunes. The refund process is not directly available and is not given to everyone because its allowed only for specific reasons.

If you do a search on the iTunes or the Apps section you wont be able to find the process on how to get the payment refund for the App you have purchased but by going through the right links you can get this process done.

Apple iTunes App Purchase History

To get started open the iTunes Application, and then logon to your iTunes Account with the logins you had earlier purchased the App with. Next click on the ‘Account’ link which will open the ‘Apple Account Information’ page. Here you will find a button which says ‘Purchase History’. Once you click on this you will get a list of all the Apps you have had purchased along with the recent purchases details.

Click on the ‘Report a Problem’ button and then you will be shown with a form which will ask you to enter the details of the problem. There will be a total of 5 different options to be selected from the Drop Down list for the problem as listed below.

  • I didn’t receive this application
  • I inadvertently purchased this application
  • This application does not function as expected
  • This application is not compatible with my device
  • I have another purchase or download-related question

Once you select the right option, you will be asked to enter the comments. Once you have filled it and submitted, your request would be submitted and you should be getting the refund of your payment once its approved. Apple allows you to claim a refund for the App Purchases till the first 90 days of the purchase made from the App Store or iTunes.

Do not select “This application does not function as expected” because Apple will just send you to the developer.
